beach house – myth
Several days after everyone else blogged about it, I am now blogging about the new Beach House song ‘Myth’. As ever this blog is on the very heartbeat of popular culture.
I have come typically late to the Beach House party. We could call it fashionably late but let’s be honest that’d just be blatant lies. And imply that I’m fashionable or hip. Which I’m clearly not if I’m only getting into Beach House now. Basically they were one of those bands who I never really had time to check out when I kept hearing about them, then the moment sort of passed, then I heard this the other day and promptly procured Teen Dream which I’ve been listening to non-stop ever since.
I will admit, too, that this has been slightly helped along by ‘Take Care’s use at the end of last week’s episode of Zooey Deschanel Star Vehicle New Girl (which gets better as it goes, although that’s for another time. But, Nick’s hot). Although let’s think of it more as a weird hipster quirk of timing than anything else.
‘Myth’ is the first track from upcoming album Bloom. From what I can establish from my new obsession, it carries on in much the same vein as Teen Dream, all lo-fi swoony atmospherics and plinkity-plonkiness with obscenely catchy-yet-ethereal harmonies. IT’S A THING.
Bloom is released on May 14th.
