liars – no. 1 against the rush

Just a night in the life of your average dry cleaner, then.

I have to admit I’ve not actually come across Liars before, even though their first album came out in 2001.  Yes, standard example of me swanning around not having a clue about anything, I know.  But this song, the first from upcoming album WIXIW (pronounced ‘wish you’) proffers dark, gloomy electronica soundscapes to accompany desolate city nights and wreck your head in the process.

The video is disturbingly engrossing, turning on its heels every thirty seconds before reaching the kind of conclusion that’s both completely expected and completely inevitable.   Yes it’s one of those that has more of an effect the less you know about it going in meaning Über-Vagueness abounds.  Oh and it’s somewhat NSFW to boot but aren’t all the good videos nowadays?!
