Slow Club – ‘Beginners’

After Jake Gyllenhaal’s turn as a Dalston slasher in The Shoes’ ‘Time To Dance’, comes yet another of those music vids that manages to bag a major Hollywood star. In this case, Daniel Radcliffe.  Yes Harry Potter is clearly hammered at 11am and it’s all rather depressing because this is actually how it could have turned out.

Thankfully the song, ‘Beginners’ by Slow Club, is not depressing, instead serving as a lovely slice of melancholic upbeat indie pop with pleas to “just be older”.  And the video is a heartbreaking, somehow uplifting and perfect counterpart.

Just in case you were still in any doubt after Woman in Black and Equus, this is the sort of thing that proves Daniel Radcliffe is a very good actor indeed.  Mesmerising.
