I still remember when I first heard this on the radio, all of four years old and sat in the back of my dad’s recently-acquired Ford Sierra.
When I was about 13, I went to the library one weekend, borrowed what must have been Now That’s What I Call Music! 5, proceeded to have one of my ‘moments’ and played this song all weekend. Repeatedly.
Neither of those things happen unless you’ve got one absolute blinder of a song on your hands. I hereby present to you one of the all-time great pop songs, from a woman who today deserves to be remembered as undoubtedly one of the all-time great pop stars.
